She hit the ground hard as the older child pushed her down. She grunted, and jumped back to her feet. She attempted to deflect the next array of attacks but they proved to fast for her. She was hit in the face, side, and stomach. She threw a punch which was immediately blocked. She screamed her frustration. Why won't you leave me alone! She wanted to shout at them, but it would have proved useless, her speech was impaired by the blood dripping out of her mouth.
They knocked her down once more, this time keeping her there with assaulting kicks. She curled up into a tight ball in order to soften the blows. Just escape Lilith, just think of your happy place.
It took her some time to notice the assault had stopped. She carefully uncurled, peeking in between her hands to see if any of the children were still around. Instead she was greeted with caring blue eyes and a small smile.
"Hey Lilith. Are you ok?"
Wrath! Her relief flowed through her, calming her anger and pain altogether. She propelled herself up and into Wrath's awaiting arms. She never wanted to show weakness in front of him yet there she sat, sobbing in his embrace.
"It's alright Lilith, it's alright. I am here." His softly cooed. Lilith's sobs stopped as the pain slowly settled in. She winced as Wrath pulled her away to examine her injuries. She couldn't look into his eyes. She was frightened she would only find disappointment.
"Come now Lilith, will you not even look at me?"
No. She thought.
He helped her up and to her surprise he lifted her into his arms.
"Wrath! I can walk!" She exclaimed.
"I know." Was his only answer. That day, he carried her home. It was a moment she would never forget. It was the day that heated her fire within, a fire that urged her to be strong. To become as strong as Wrath was.
